I have to say that this is one of the most interesting developments that I have seen on the news in a LONG time. I could even say “In my lifetime”.
I won’t pretend that I am aged or have lived an extremely long life at this point, but it is incredible to see many live protests on the streets of America again. Even though we have had issues like #METOO and other movements over the past decade or so, things have been rather quiet in America all throughout my life.
But things in line with civil rights in our nation have finally reached the point that Americans are willing to walk the streets in rage and voice their opinion for the updates to our culture that are needed.
What can we do when it comes to the fact that police think behavior like this is right? Even more than the story of George Floyd’s death, there are so many other issues that come into play with this story.
Our own president made a racist tweet about “When the looting begins the shooting begins” and has the balls to pretend that he doesn’t know where it originated. He states that the military will support with any force needed on the streets, clearly backing up the idea that protesters are the ones who will be shot.
While Minneapolis has brought the first of these police officers into arrest, there is much more that needs to be done. This is something that needs to be handled nationwide as well!
So much more needs to be done in order for America to repair from the racism that has seemed to re-enter our nation. And, oddly enough, it seems to have happened over the past three and a half years. Hmmm…
Will a presidential change help alleviate some of these horrible activities?
